Caribbean Sea | Tropical Rainforest | Ancient Maya Ceremonial Sites

Well known for its pristine UNESCO World Heritage site of Copán Ruinas, Honduras is home to one of the most spectacular cities of the ancient Maya civilization. Copán's stone sculptures and intricate hieroglyphs are one of the best preserved archaeologic sites left behind by the Mayas. The magnificent ruins have some of the most remarkable pre-Columbian art found anywhere.

In addition to being a crucial location for the Mayas, Honduras also contains part of the huge Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and many breathtaking islands, like Roatán, which is one of Honduras’s Caribbean Bay Islands, known for its white sand beaches, tropical flora and fauna and a vibrant coral reef. Honduras's Caribbean is well known for its beaches, dive sites and marine life, including whale sharks. We invite you to stroll along undisturbed white-sand beaches, visit whale sharks with one of Honduras' most experienced divers or spend the day island-hopping aboard a private dive boat.

Soak up the warm sun and feel the soft sand between your toes. Honduras is home to some of the most amazing beaches, enjoy the flora and fauna or experience a more adventurous day diving in the Caribbean at the Meso-American Barrier Reef. Curious about the past? Visit and explore one of the most spectacular Mayan cities.

Pristine beaches, palm trees, pelicans, sand, and surf, not to mention, some of the best diving locations on earth. Capture some of the most amazing marine life with brightly colored coral and fascinating tropical fish. Honduras is also home to magnificent ruins, remarkable pre-Columbian art and part of the Central American Rainforest, with beautiful flora and fauna and plenty of animal and bird species.

Take a trip to a Bird Park and Nature Reserve where the kids can hold and pet the brilliantly colored Macaws. The tropical bird sanctuary is a perfect place for the family. Enjoy island life and the birds, monkeys, and iguanas, fish, stingrays and sea turtles. Go swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, or zip lining. Explore the Mayan ruins and new cultures.

Honduras is home to many species of tropical fish, coral, and amazing marine life along the Great Meso American Barrier Reef. Also being part of the Central American Rainforest, the country hosts several ecosystems full of animals species, including 18 species of parrots alone and 98 different species of bats. Plant and animal species flourish in the diverse forests of Honduras, including species that have disappeared from other parts of the region.
